Music is everywhere we go. We cannot escape it.
Music is used to...
wake us up in the morning
accompany us on our way to and from work
make us dance our sadness away
help us forget
help us remember
and yet...
the act of making music is a REVOLUTIONARY act.
Music dares us to dream up an ideal, greater reality.
When we make music together (you the listener, I the performer and vice versa), we are revolutionizing the way we see life both individually and collectively.
This is not to say that every performance needs to cause riots (such as Stravinsky's Rite of Spring), but on a subconscious level, our reality is evolving every time we engage with music. When we become consciously aware of that reality is when things get crazy (again...Rite of Spring).
Why do you make music, performers?
Why do you engage in our performances, audience members?
Consider this a preview blog post. Its late and, on a whim, I felt the need to start a blog, so you're getting 2:34 am thoughts from tired eyes and an over-saturated brain. But, let's have a conversation about what music is to us?
As we make conversation, we create opportunities for new ideas, which can become new music, which, when made is a revolutionary act.
Welcome to the revolution, friends.
